Captain Sub Runners' origin came about as the distant planet of Sub-Jupiter is destroyed by a struggle between good and evil forces. The planets' destruction hurls two powerful gems toward Earth, which crash down in the town of Salisbury, Maryland.

The first gem is found by a hard working and good natured manager at Sub Runners, a popular eatery in town. The gem transforms his kind and dedicated nature into Captain Sub Runners - Champion of Quality, Value, and Service, ideals which are at the core of Sub Runners' mission. 

The second gem was found by Tom, who loves to distract and bother the workers at Sub Runners. The gem amplifies his troublesome nature and transforms him into Dr. Distracto. He wows to take over Sub Runners, and eventually, the world!
